A Texas real estate company founded on the premise that property, managed with patience and appropriate seriousness, tends to hold its value rather well.
The Temple Group was founded on a simple premise: that real estate, like most things in life, is improved by attention, patience, and an honest understanding of what one does not know.
"We are not the largest real estate company in Texas. We are not trying to be. We are trying to be the one that makes the fewest mistakes per year."
— Jason Temple, Founder & CEO
Brief. We are a young company. The history is, accordingly, recent.
Temple Corp LLC is formed in Addison, Texas in January. The Temple Group LLC follows in April as a dedicated subsidiary for real estate operations. EIN obtained. Principal office established at 14632 Windsor Ct.
The Barton Manor, 4205 Barton Creek Blvd, Austin — acquired Q1. The columns were persuasive. The deal was not simple. We have not regretted it once, which is the correct number of times to not regret an acquisition.
Two additional properties entered the pipeline. The Willowbrook listed for acquisition. The Archer Flats under active due diligence. The investment committee deliberated. This is, we feel, appropriate behavior.
Board composition expanded. Angela Temple joins the board with oversight of portfolio standards and acquisitions criteria. The bar for what constitutes a "good property" is raised. We consider this a net improvement.
We continue to identify, evaluate, and occasionally acquire properties of merit in the Texas market. We reject the majority of what we see. This is by design.
Patience
"We do not rush acquisitions. We do not rush anything. Rushing is how one ends up with a property one does not want."
Rigor
"Every property is evaluated. Every number is checked. Every assumption is questioned. Usually twice, and once more after that."
Discretion
"We do not discuss our portfolio with people who are not our tenants, our attorneys, or each other. We find this to be a useful policy."
Four members. One family. Differing opinions about crown molding, cap rates, and appropriate holding periods.
